Since I moved to Swampscott, MA last July, I have been trying the various available commuter options available to me. The Commuter rail is theoretically the easiest. It's 25 minutes from Swampscott Station to North Station. My house is half a block from the station.

This has been bothering me for some time. I plan on sending a letter to Borders, but want to vent here first to get my thoughts together.

Here is my problem: At least once a week Borders has a promotion where they ask if you want to buy a bag of coffee for a local food pantry. The coffee costs $10.00 for what looks like a standard 12oz bag of coffee.

I don't really hate Drupal. It's the title of Walkah's session. He probably doesn't hate Drupal either.

But familiarity breeds contempt and no good deed goes unpunished. Sorry, all I can come up with right now is vaguely remembered catch phrases of yesteryear.

I am having a great time at Drupalcon but I am starting to feel the effects of information overload. I just camped out at my hotel this evening after the last session, which was the best so far. It was about staging, migrating and deploying drupal sites.

I have taken very few photos so far and I am not much of a photographer, but here is my Flikr stream. It is tagged drupalcon, dcdrupalcon and drupalcon09, hopefully it will meet up with the other drupalcon flikr streams which I am sure are populating as we speak.

3/3/09 8:11 a.m.

I'm in the "Quiet Car" of the Amtrak train to Washington D.C. I'm not seeing any wifi that I can pickup from Amtrak. I can see an MBTA ssid and it let me connect however I can't ping so there has to be some kind of configuration problem but I'm not sure what it could be. I will wait to see if there is an Amtrak connection that starts up later.

8:15, the MBTA Commuter rail connection just popped up, and I briefly had connectivity, at least I could see the commuter rail wifi page. clicking connect didn't connect "address not found" in my browser.

8:20 Leaving South Boston right on time.

Today I was able to create a decent screencast using open source tools and the free hosting account on screencasts.com.

I have Ubuntu 8.10 on my laptop. I used recordmydesktop to create the screencast. This results in an *.ogg file. I then converted it to an avi file (which I may not have had to do in order to post it on screencast.com) using mencoder:

mencoder -idx drupal-demo.ogg.ogv -ovc lavc -oac mp3lame -o drupal-demo.avi

Here is a link to the screencast:
